Domestic Boat Transport in Türkiye: What Drives the Cost

Distance and route

Overland distance is the first line item in a domestic transfer — but not the only one. Bridge clearances, narrow provincial crossings, and special-load permits can stretch the route. Fethiye → Bodrum is about 280 km; the Göcek → Istanbul (Tuzla) line runs around 950 km.

Vessel size and special permits

Any boat over 3.5m wide is 'special cargo'. That means night transit, escort vehicles, and separate permits for each province on the route. Above 5m beam, police accompaniment usually applies.

Crane and marina fees

Crane operations for haul-out and launch, the marina's travel-lift fee, and cradle/padding costs make up a significant share of the total. All of these are pinned down during the free survey — no surprises later.

Insurance

Full hull transport insurance at declared value on every move. The premium runs 0.2–0.4% of declared value, depending on vessel age and route.
